EUROSTAR -LONDON to LILLE


Lille the 5th largest metropolitan city is situated in the northern part of the French republic  with the population  over a million according to 2007 census.The city earlier was called L”isle, it  got the name in the 11th century because it was founded on an isle in the river Deule . The city is located on the bank of the  Deûle River shares the border with Belgium. It is also famous for its active life. The city comprises of  Place du Général-de-Gaulle    (also known as the grand place) seperates the city in two parts . The main shopping alley in the south and Old Lille in the north. Lille is a lovely place to discover Flemish architecture , food and beer. With very large student population , the city resides on a strong industrial background . It is the largest French city in the northern region  of France.

The weather over Lille varies . During springs the sun shines ,but temperature remains below 8 c  in the month of march. Reaching around  15 c in may . summers are warm and sunny with temperature rising up to 25 c  during the month of august. Autumn brings rain  and  the temperature goes below 11 c. winters are harsh due to the location towards the arctic circle snow and rain pours down often.

HOW TO GET THERE:
